CATARINA BARBOSA ORIGINATES FROM A SMALL TOWN IN PORTUGAL, PÓVOA DE VARZIM.

She studied at the National Conservatory of Portugal in Lisbon, where she began a 2-year course in 2009.
She completed her professional education abroad, studying at the Ballet Junior de Genève (Switzerland) until 2014.

In the course of that training, she started to express her art in a more contemporary register.

During her final year with the Ballet Junior, Catarina also joined the Compagnie Gilles Jobin, performing in July 2013 in its creation Quantum, which toured all over the world.

She is a co-founder of the AWA -As We Are - Company, with which she performed in its first creation, As You Want, in 2016. The following year, she presented a solo piece, With My Eyes.

Following the production of these two short pieces, she collaborated with Baptiste in staging their first long-format creation, SHOOT THE CAMERAMAN, which has won the support of numerous international organisations.

In the interim, Catarina continues to perform on a freelance basis for other companies.
